Ballet. Ben was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo where he first began dancing at an arts magnet public school. He went on to finish his training with full scholarship at the Joffrey School of Ballet in New York City and enjoyed a professional dancing career for over twelve years. In 2004, Ben “retired” from the professional stage as a principal dancer with the Charlotte Ballet, (formerly North Carolina Dance Theatre). Ben doesn’t believe ballet class is a place to denigrate, humiliate, stigmatize or discourage any student. He also doesn’t believe in furthering outdated perceptions of a career in dance. He believes a modern day dance career is a vocation like anything else, and for the most part, a blue collar one at that.
Ben welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about ballet or further their own personal and professional goals. Please do not hesitate to contact him with any questions.
Gabriela began her dance training at the Charlotte City Ballet when she was just three years old. She was also inspired by Dancesport when she was 10, and was officially recognized as the first junior ballroom dancer in the Charlotte area. As a youth competitor Gabriela possessed many titles and won numerous competitions including Manhattan Dancesport Championships, Heritage Classic, and Ohio Star Ball. With her dance partner Dmitriy they are amateur national finalists and ten dance vice-champions. Now as professionals they represent the United States on international level and are considered one of the best couples in both Latin and Standard in the US. In 2011 Gabriela established Dance Center USA where she enjoys teaching people of all ages how to dance.
